 Here are some Tips:
The normal temperature for a dog is usually between 100-102.5. If your dog's temperature is less then 99 or more then 104, you should seek your Veterinarian.
The normal color of your dog's gums should be pink. If your dog has pale, white or blue gums, seek your Veterinarian.
To check your dog's heart rate you should count the beats for fifteen seconds and multiply by four. Small dog's hearts beat 120-160 per minute while bigger dogs over thirty pounds beat 60-129. Larger the dog, slower the beats.
The Respiratory rate for a dog should be between 10-30 breaths per minute. Some dogs can pant as much as 200 pants per minute!

 Toenail time!:
Everyone knows how much dogs love having their nails cut! If your pet is like mine you probably have to bribe them in order to get them trimmed. Sometimes toenails can be rather tricky to cut. If you happen to cut your dog's toenail a little too short, don't panic! Use a small amount of flour and pack it on the end of the nail. This will help stop the bleeding. Rubbing a bar of soap on the nail will also have the same result. It's good to have Styptic powder on hand for a quick cure for a cut or bleeding toenail.

 Paw Tips:
After each walk you should wash your pet's feet. This help stop dryness of the paws, especially in the Winter time.
  •  Trimming the hairs between your pet's toes, which collects ice and snow, will also prevent dryness.
  • Applying Petroleum jelly to the pads before walking out in the cold will also prevent dryness.
  • Last but not least, special boots have been made to help irritation on your pet's feet.
